About us
A satsang study group founded in Sydney to help sincere seekers take meaningful steps forward on their own spiritual journey.

Our mission
Our mission is to share the timeless and profound spiritual teachings of the Bhagavad-Gītā, encouraging each person to take meaningful steps forward on their unique spiritual journey.
By fostering a deeper understanding of these sacred scriptures, we hope to inspire a transformative change in thought, in consciousness, and in our connection with the divine.
Our founder
Born in September 1952, Vinod spent most of his career as an IT professional, retiring from Oracle Australia in 2016. Since July 2021 he has chosen to devote his time to serving the community and sharing whatever knowledge he has.
“In truth, I am the first student of this Satsang Study Group. As I learn, you all will join me, and together we’ll explore the very essence of wisdom — the Bhagavad Gītā.”— Vinod Kumar
Made Sydney, Australia home — where Vinod lives with his wife, two daughters and four grandchildren.
Began exploring spiritual literature and became deeply engrossed. Completed ‘The Master Course’ from the Hindu Monastery, Hawaii, and attended courses with ISKCON.
Retired from a long IT career, finishing with Oracle Australia, and began five Vedānta courses with Chinmaya Mission: Foundation Vedānta, Bhagavad-Gītā, Advanced Vedānta, Upaniṣads and Master Gītā Master Life.
Completed the last of these courses — and wondered when the studies would continue.
Started a WhatsApp group for fellow spiritual seekers, and chose to devote his time to serving the community. The Joyful Living Satsang Study Group was born.
Our milestones
Heartfelt gratitude to every seeker who has made these journeys possible — and to all who will join in the future.
A humble note
Vinod is not anyone’s spiritual guru, and has no intention of becoming one. His aim is simply to inspire you to take one step further on the spiritual path, to embrace “the Gītā way of life”, and to realise your true Self.
With a prayer for Bhagavān Śrī Krishna’s grace and blessings to learn well, every session is approached as a student alongside you.
